Warkworth One Satellite Dismantle -2008

As you can see by the above photo the old Satellite became outdated and was replaced by more advanced smaller versions (seen surrounding). Ward was tasked with the dismantle and removal of the redundant 230 tonne, 30-m diameter dish structure. Among the challenges was the critical task of not disrupting or damaging the structures successors sat in close proximity and sensitive to dust and vibrations. The successful completion of this technical project can be attributed to Wards extensive experience and in-depth planning/ procedures.

Cutting and Craning

The 30-m diameter dish was cut and dropped to the ground uncovering heavier elements that required safely craning down minimising risk and eliminating vibrations. Among the technically challenging heavy lifts was the 90 tonne counterweight which required two 250 tonne cranes to ensure it was safely lowered to the ground. Our highly experienced management team know the importance of accurate weight calculations in order to execute a safe dismantling of large heavy elements. Our talented gas cutters ensured complete separation of each element before lifting was attempted.
